Adelaide Fringe Poster Brief
WE’RE ON THE HUNT!
Design the winning image for the 2010 Adelaide Fringe and be part of 50 years of Fringe history! The winning image will become the official poster of the 2010 Adelaide Fringe and be plastered everywhere – from the Fringe website to merchandise, bus shelters to press advertising.
Not only do you get the kudos, the winner will also receive 2 return flights to Vietnam and 4 night’s accommodation!
BACKGROUND
In 2010, the Adelaide Fringe celebrates 50 years of Fringe activity! With thousands of independent artists participating in more than 500 events, and audience attendances over one million, the three week Adelaide Fringe immerses the city in the latest in new and cutting-edge performing and visual arts and to international acclaim as one of the most lively and challenging events of its kind in the world.
THE WINNING ENTRY
The poster we are looking for must be:
- Iconic: it can be photographic, painted, sketched, screen printed, an illustration or CGI
POSTER DO’S AND DON’TS
DO
- Make your entry sharp, memorable and convey a positive image, reflecting the spontaneous and fun energy of the Adelaide Fringe.
- Ensure that it is flexible so that it can be used, in full or in part, in a variety of creative applications
DON’T
Your poster should not:
- Be made of traditional art symbols such as happy/sad drama masks
- Be made of images usually associated with artistic pursuits such as paint brushes and violins
- Involve items of “Australiana” such as gum trees, kangaroos, koalas etc
- Include Adelaide Fringe or sponsor logos. This is not necessary for the competition.
DEADLINE
Entries must be received by 5pm, Thursday 10 September 2009 with a completed entry form attached to the rear of the entry. Under no circumstances will late entries be accepted.
JUDGING
Entries will be judged by a jury of event, art and design professionals. The winner will be notified in early October 2009. The winning entry will be featured at a poster launch to be held in November 2009.
ELIGIBILITY AND POSTER RETURN
All individuals and design schools/firms are invited to submit entries. Only one entry per person will be accepted. There is no entry fee for the competition, but all poster entries become property of Adelaide Fringe Inc and will not be returned.
